August 10, 12 and 14, 2024discover the opera La Bohème by Giacomo Puccini.
"Paris, Latin Quarter, Christmas Eve, 19th century.
A group of penniless students and bohemian artists share an unsanitary garret. They rely on the joys of life to brighten up their miserable lives. The little cousin Mimi brings light and warmth to the poet Rodolfo. They live their love passionately, and show it to their friends on Christmas Eve. Musette, the fickle mistress, and her painter Marcello, on the other hand, are accustomed to making a splash. They form a moody couple, in contrast to the more melodramatic Mimi and Rodolfo.
Mimi and Rodolfo end up breaking up without ever getting along. Yet Mimi knows she is doomed by the phthisis that eats away at her every day. Separated from Rodolfo, she finally dies in his arms, before the eyes of her bohemian friends, unable to care for her."
