Les Soirées Lyriques is an open air opera festival, taking advantage of the exceptional acoustics of the Gallo-Roman theater of Sanxay in Grand Poitiers.
With nearly 153,000 admissions in 20 years, the festival is now the third largest lyrical art event in France, after the Aix-en-Provence Festival and the Chorégies d'Orange.
This year August 10, 12 and 14, 2021discover the comic opera Carmen by Georges Bizet : "In Seville, around 1820, Carmen, the bohemian cigar girl, seduces Don José, the young brigadier. She longs for freedom and independence. He, engaged, plunges headlong into this passion. For her, he will abandon his bride, Micaëla, desert and join the smuggling business. But Carmen, "a rebellious bird who has never known any law", gets tired... and lets herself be seduced by Escamillo, a famous toreador. Crazy with despair and jealousy, Don José, in order to recover his love, will commit the irreparable... "

The health pass is required for adults over 18 years old. Access to the show is authorized when the pass attests to either a complete vaccination (effective after the 2nd dose or the 1st for those who have had the Covid and the immune response time, i.e. 2 or 4 weeks depending on the vaccine used), or a negative PCR or antigenic test less than 48 hours old, or the result of a positive RT-PCR or antigenic test attesting to the recovery of the Covid, dating back at least 15 days and less than six months.
