The Scandiberian is the French section of the European cycle route EuroVelo 3, linking Norway to Spain. It crosses the entire country and is the longest cycle route in France.
In the département, it offers a route of more than 57km from Châtellerault to Lussac-les-Châteaux, passing through Bonnes and the magnificent medieval town of Chauvigny in Greater Poitiers! A chance to enjoy one of France's most beautiful detours in slow-tourism mode 🙂
Cycle routes 94 (Bourges-La Rochelle) and 41
Cycling route no. 94, a national interest route linking Bourges (Cher) to La Rochelle (Charente-Maritime), comprises over 200 km of cycle paths, and passes through Chauvigny and Poitiers!
Cycle route no. 41 is built around the Pilgrim's Way to Santiago de Compostela, and passes through 11 UNESCO World Heritage sites. It links Poses, in the Eure department, to Mont-de-Marsan, in the Landes department, and stretches over 968 km, with a section between Cenon-sur-Vienne and Poitiers passing through Chasseneuil-du-Poitou.
The path of the Bishop of Tours
This 237 km route between Poitiers and Tours follows in the footsteps of Saint Martin's abduction from Ligugé Abbey by the Tourangeaux, who wanted to make him their bishop. It passes through the commune of Saint-Benoît.
The tourist information offices in Chasseneuil-du-Poitou, Lusignan, Poitiers and Saint-Benoît have the national Accueil Vélo brandwhich guarantees quality reception and services along cycle routes for touring cyclists.
