The "Maison d'Autrefois" museum in Chasseneuil-du-Poitou features nine themed rooms displaying furniture, clothing, regional caps and bonnets, tools and everyday objects.
The LECLANCHE pile is also represented there with two showcases dedicated to the pile factory formerly established on the commune. Let yourself be transported from the living room of a Poitevin house to that of religious objects, passing through the 19th century bourgeois costume room and that of Poitevin hats and headdresses.
Other rooms will delight you with woodwork, carpentry, antique toys, a collection of the first wireless telephone sets, including one with a galena...
Many trades are represented: from the blacksmith to the winemaker and from the country guard to the midwife!
The museum association also invites you to discover its exhibition gallery in the town hall annex, on the same street as the museum. Permanent gallery dedicated to the history of the village, from Louis 1er le Pieux, son of Charlemagne and born in Chasseneuil, to the 1900s.
During the summer months, this gallery houses a temporary exhibition. There's also a photo exhibition on the funerary finery from Mia's burial site, dating back to the 1st Iron Age!
