Center for scientific, technical and industrial culture located in the historic center of Poitiers, the Espace Mendès France owes its origins to researchers from the University of Poitiers and enthusiasts who, in the late 1970s, went to to meet with local residents to discuss scientific topics and demonstrate, with "manipulations", that science can be accessible - and even fun!
Within its walls, the center welcomes actions to disseminate scientific culture: events, exhibitions, conferences, meetings, study days, shows, etc.... It explores a number of themes to offer a program that showcases research and sheds light on contemporary issues: artificial intelligence and digital technology, climate and biodiversity, health, promoting the careers of women scientists, and the crossroads between the arts and sciences.Espace Mendès France has a planetariumwith 96 seats. This exceptional facility offers sessions to discover the apparent and real movement of the stars, and the surprising characteristics of the stars and planets.
