The Espace Mendès France welcomes the public in its premises located in the historical heart of the city of Poitiers. The diversity of the center's activities, both in terms of themes and content, is the hallmark of the center. The temporary exhibitions cover a wide field, from sustainable development to scientific techniques of criminal investigation, etc. The center is also very active in the fields of health, research, astronomy (thanks to the planetarium), information technology and the environment. For the youngest, workshops allow them to familiarize themselves with science from a very young age.
The EMF coordinates several important regional operations such as the Fête de la science. It also maintains a permanent mission on the theme of science, innovation and territories, creativity and territories and develops international partnerships.
In the history of science, the Espace Mendès France has developed a unique center of excellence in France. In 2008, it was even awarded the "Science, Culture and Innovation" label by the French Ministry of Education. It also has a Planetarium, an original room that hosts both astronomy events and artistic broadcasts.
